* Notes: 1. For е, ye is used initially, after a vowel, й, ъ or ь.; e is used in all other cases.
Examples: Yel-tsin, She-re-met'-ye-vo.
2. ё is normally replaced with е in Russian technical writing. When it is absolutely necessary to retain this distinction, BGN/PCGN recommends Umlaut (see link below)

Commonly accepted representation of Russian endings is as follows:
