хотя весь перевод не мешало бы переделать (is the valve, which plug... - особенно).

Вопрос: почему у Вас написано "BALL VALVE is the valve"? Здесь не место определённому артиклю. Должно быть "is a valve".
Запирающий элемент - closure element, не plug!!! В шаровом клапане (он же кран) запирающим элементом является "шар" (ball).
