Пожалуйста, подскажите....интересует перевод endowed chairs . Today, there are 49 centers, with 35 endowed chairs for each and endowments of $2 million to $5 million per chair.

нравится! взяла просто "профессор") но как по смыслу получается, что на каждого профессора от 2 до 5 млн долларов уходит, а их в каждом центре по 35, а центров 49 всего?))

просто не верится))

почему не верится? если большинство по 2млн, полдюжины по 3млн, а пара-тройка по 5млн - вполне реальная сумма для небедного штата.

* 'chair' here = 'professorship'.
* 'endowment' here = 'a gift of money or property to a non-profit or charitable organization for the ongoing support of that organization'.
