The law requires that when applying for a renewal, fifty percent (50%) of the licence has to be shed off. But the application which will accompany the Terminal Report and the budgeted work programme will ask for the renewal of the entire 156 square kilometres for a period of three years without shedding off any portion of the licence. It could be that the Commission will agree for the renewal of the entire 156 square kilometres or the Commission will ask for the shedding off of fifty percent (50%) of the licence. Let us wait and see what happens. Since it is stated in the Terminal Report that preparation of Feasibility Report will begin shortly to apply for a Mining Lease covering an area of 63 square kilometres, that is the reason why it has been stated in the cover letter submitting the Terminal Report otherwise, we should not be talking about the area for the Mining Lease let alone to mention the 93 square kilometres that will be left as prospecting. The mining lease area of 63 square kilometres has only been stated in the cover letter just to inform the Commission in advance that Company will be applying for a mining lease shortly to cover such area. Remember that if the application for the renewal of the licence in its entirety is approved, then at the time that the mining lease will be applied for, the remaining 93 square kilometres will still be valid prospecting licence for company and there will be no problem at all. Let us hope that the Commission agrees to renew the entire 156 square kilometres and when that happens, then there will be nothing to worry about at all. If the Commission does not agree to the renewal of the entire licence, then the law requires that the one who sheds off the 50% of the licence has to wait for six month before he can apply for that area again. As at now, we cannot tell the Commission that Compny will retain the remaining 93 square kilometres because Company s not been granted the renewal of the licence for the entire 156 square kilometres yet. |
