non-standard employmentнестандартная занятость (As we use the term here, the concept of precarious employment is broad and means "work for remuneration characterized by uncertainty, low income, and limited social benefits and statutory entitlements". For some, "precarious" employment is limited to work that has an element of contingency, and for others it is used synonymously with "non-standard employment" such as part-time and temporary work. However, employees in contingent work include people who are well paid, sometimes precisely because of the uncertainty inherent in their work. We agree with the Law Commission of Ontario ("LCO") that, for our purposes, the term "precarious" should be restricted to include only those whose work is low paid. We agree with the LCO that low wages are a necessary condition for those who are considered precarious for the purposes of needing protection and we agree that we must include employees in standard employment categories – Ministry of Labour (Ontario, Canada) Tamerlane)
